Virginia A. Jones, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Tuesday February 11, 2020 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Christ The King Catholic Church in Medford. Friends and relatives may greet the family from 9:00 -10:45 am at the Medford Funeral Home on Saturday followed by a procession to the church for the mass. The Catholic Daughters of America will recite the rosary at 8:45 am at the funeral home on Saturday.
Virginia was born August 24, 1926 in Cannon City Township, rural Rice County, the daughter of Homer and Nalda (Landry) Guimond. Virginia attended High School in Medford and graduated in 1944. Prior to her marriage, Virginia worked for Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She was united in marriage to Clarence “Jim” Jones on November 20, 1946 in Medford. The couple made their home in Medford raising four boys. Virginia was a homemaker for her family and recovered upholstery in her home for many years. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Medford, the Catholic Order of Foresters and Christ the King Church. Her life interests include, first and foremost, caring for her family in any helpful way, making crafts, cooking, canning, gardening and bowling. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and cribbage, and socializing with visits from friends and family. She taught cribbage to elementary school kids. She loved playing bingo and playing slots, especially her many trips to the Riverside in Laughlin NV. Virginia was a wonderful care giver for her grandchildren during their growing years.
Virginia is survived by her sons James “Butch” Jones, Bob Jones, Tom Jones and Rick (Claudia “Star”) Jones all of Medford. 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson, sister Dorothy Hruska and brother Homer (Gen) Guimond.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Jim, grandson Chad, daughter-in-law Mavis, brother Bernard and sister Rita.
