Marvin Duane Maas, of Owatonna, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 11, 2020, at the age of 81.
Friends may greet the family from 1-2:00 PM at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Owatonna, Tuesday Feb. 18, 2020, with a Memorial service to follow at 2:00PM. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery.
Born October 19, 1938, in Wayne, NE. He was the son of Louie and Hilda (Runge) Maas. He was raised on a farm near Ringsted, Iowa. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and attended Jack Creek Country School through 6th grade, graduating from Ringsted High School. He attended Mankato Commercial College, graduating with an AAS degree in accounting. Upon graduating he worked in Owatonna, where he met and married Jeanne Gray and they later divorced, remaining good friends.
Marvin enjoyed travelling, collecting coins, eating Snickers and ice cream, playing cards and telling jokes to anyone who would listen, often carrying jokes with him in his wallet. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his former wife, Jeanne Maas of Owatonna, son, Michael Maas of Owatonna, daughters, Robin (Tim) Terrell of Waseca and Lisa (Nathan) Ward of St. Clair; nine grand-children and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcia (Larry) Boody, Maynard, Marlys (Walter) Black and Murlaine Maas. He was preceded in death by his parents and grand-daughter, Emma Ward.
