Vivian Adele Rubedor, age 90, of Owatonna, passed away at her home, July 6, 2019 surrounded by her family. Friends may greet the family from 4-7:00 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Brick Meger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday July 10, at Aurora Lutheran Church, rural Owatonna, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Vivian was born to parents Ralph and Hulda (Sandberg) Johnson in St. James, MN. She grew up in Butterfield, MN and graduated from high school in 1947. She married Lloyd F. Rubedor on May 17, 1948. After marriage they lived in several towns around the Midwest finally settling down in Owatonna in 1972. Along with being a foster parent for 39 children, Vivian also worked at Woolworth's until her retirement.
She was an active member of Aurora Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, Grandparents for Education, volunteering for the Aurora Diner and volunteering for the Options program at the Owatonna High School.
Vivian is survived by her children, Beverly Ferguson, Barb Simon, Betty (Ray) Copp, Bernie (Curtis) Jensen, Brian Rubedor, all of Owatonna, Berdella (Mike) Burns, Rochester, Bradley (April) Rubedor, Mesa, AZ; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 39 foster children; brother, Wallace Johnson, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd; daughter, Brenda K. Rux; granddaughter, Beki L. Peterson; son-in-law, Gene Ferguson; parents; brothers, Ruben Johnson and Lester Johnson; and sister, Sylvia MacArthur.
