Ralph Viera of Owatonna died December 31, 2018 at his home of natural causes.  Funeral service is set for Saturday January 5, 2019 at 11:30 am at the Cornerstone Evangelical Church in Owatonna.  Friends may greet the family on Friday January 4, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 – Austin Rd, Owatonna) and one hour before the funeral service at the church on Saturday.  Interment with military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Ralph was born January 14, 1950 in Gary Indiana, the son of Carmelo and Aura (Gonzales) Viera.  He attended high school in Gary and was a member of the graduation class of 1969.  Ralph enlisted in the Air Force in October of 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1977. Ralph continued to serve his country in the  Army Reserve for 18 years and retired for the 417th Maintenance Unit in Faribault, MN.  He was united in marriage to Debra Christensen on December 20, 1972 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL.  The couple lived at Ellsworth Air Force Base in in Rapid City, SD.  The couple relocated to Lake Benton,MN after leaving the service in 1976. Then in 1979 they moved to Owatonna, MN where Ralph attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College for three years.  He worked at Hy-vee and then changed to Cybex in Owatonna for 30 years, retiring in 2017.  Ralph attended Cornerstone Evangelical Church.  His life interest besides his family first and foremost included: prayer ministry, umpiring softball and baseball, spectator sports especially watching the Vikings, racquet ball, playing cards, shooting hoops with his kids, and gardening with his wife.

Ralph will be missed by his wife of 46 years Debra, children Arthur (Corina) Viera of Des Moines, WA.  Timothy (Sarah) Viera of Stanwood, WA and Anna (Isaac) Rupprecht of Waseca,MN.  Grandchildren Evelyn, Adeline Viera, Jonathan, Juliana, Jayden, Jude, Jasmine Viera.  Brother Louie Viera and  sister Miriam Hartz.  Preceded in death by parents.
