Kevin Johnson lifelong resident of Owatonna died June 4, 2019 in Owatonna.  A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 1:00 -5:00 pm at the Owatonna Eagles (141 – East Rose St.)

Kevin was born July 20, 1955 in St. Paul the son of Dale V. and Joan A. (Lynch) Johnson. He attended school in Owatonna and was a member of the graduating class of 1974. Kevin enlisted in the United States Air Force following high school and served until he was honorably discharged in 1976 then attended Alexandria Vo-Tech to study law enforcement. Kevin continued to serve his country in the Air Force Reserve for a number of years. Kevin accepted a position with the Steele County Sheriff Department upon graduating with a law enforcement degree. He continued to work for the Sheriff Department for the next twelve years. Kevin purchased a poultry business from his parents and continued to run the family business for the next six years. Kevin was united in marriage to Kim Harpel on September 22, 1989 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Kevin later went to work as an insurance agent for AFLAC and continued until present day.  He was a charter member of Minnesota Pheasants, Owatonna Chapter and served in all of the offices including president.  Kevin remained very active in Minnesota Pheasants.  He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. Kevin enjoyed classic cars and his favorite car was a Chevy 1955 Handyman Wagon. Kevin will be missed by his wife Kim, two sons Kyle and Lucas.  His mother Joan Johnson, siblings Gary (Karen) Johnson of Prosperity, SC Pam (Brad) Larson of Apple Valley, Colleen (Jeff) Hollister of Owatonna, Kirk (Julie) Johnson of Owatonna and Jeff Johnson of Minnetonka.  Many nieces and nephews and extended family.  He is preceded in death by his father Dale and his brother Dick. Memorials may be directed to Minnesota Pheasants, Owatonna Chapter or the donor’s choice.
