Joan A. Johnson passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019 surrounded by family. She was 88.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Brick Meger Funeral Home, with Rev. Coqui Conkey presiding. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
Joan was born November 29, 1930 in Lakeville, MN, the daughter of Timothy and Cecelia Lynch. She grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School.
Joan was united in marriage to Dale Johnson on September 11, 1948 in Hastings. The couple moved to Owatonna in 1955.
Joan and Dale raised seven children. Joan was a waitress at Jerry’s Supper Club for many years. She then purchased the White Hutch (aka Woody’s) and later owned Johnson’s Cafe (aka Grace’s). During retirement she was a lunchroom aide at Willow Creek Elementary School.
She enjoyed reading, card club and sang with the Golden Tones. She was a member of the Elks Club. She attended Associated Church.
Joan is survived by sons, Gary (Karen) of Prosperity, SC., Kirk (Julie) of Owatonna, Jeff of Mound and daughters, Pam (Brad) Larson of Apple Valley and Colleen (Jeff) Hollister of Owatonna, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Dale, sons Dick and Kevin and 2 grandsons. Our family deeply appreciates all the staff at Birchwood Cottages and Allina Hospice for their tender care to our Mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer Association or Allina Hospice: Patient Care Fund.
