Beverly J Seykora passed away on September 24th, 2019, after an 18 month journey with Ovarian Cancer. She was 72 years of age.
Bev was born to Rosina and Albert Drache on January 10, 1947 in Steele County. She was born and raised, the youngest of 4 children, on a Meriden family farm in the late 1940’s. This taught her to never give up, work hard and allowed her the time to dream of a successful life that would be filled with a loving husband and children.
Beverly graduated from Owatonna High School in 1965 and married the love of her life, Robert F. Seykora in 1966. She always enjoyed “date night” with her husband. Bev is survived by her husband, one sister and brother, 5 children, 7 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 great-grandson, numerous sister and brother –in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Bob and Bev started their own construction business, Rocon Inc., in the basement of their home in 1977 and have been business partners ever since. Over the years, Beverly had served on various committees including: Board of Directors for Sacred Heart Church, Women’s Council, Catholic Education, Exchange Club Center for Family Unity, Music Boosters, PTA, The Miss Owatonna and Miss Minnesota Pageant system, Junior Miss, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Owatonna Exchange Club, Hospice House Inc., and Civil Service Commission.
Bev and Bob have fundraised and worked to establish the Owatonna Soccer Complex and over the years have been a willing participant with Owatonna Young Life fundraisers, Music in Owatonna, Steele County Relay for Life and served on the committee for the Lowe Family performances in Owatonna. Bev and Bob also were the first recipients of the “Spirit of Community” recognition from the Owatonna Foundation in 2008.
Bev’s favorite pursuits were shopping, decorating for the holidays and flower gardening. She loved working with others to make their dreams a reality, having fun times with friends and family, and ending the day with a good glass of wine. Beverly lived by the motto, “Live, Laugh and Love”.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to: The Sacred Heart Remodel Fund, The Owatonna Foundation, or to the donor’s choice in her name.
Funeral Mass will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church. (There will be no visitation prior to the funeral mass). Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Owatonna Country Club, where friends may greet the family.
